The recovery of dozens of plane wrecks with missing crews from the second world war, is a step closer.
A national programme will bring municipalities advice and (financial) help.
Minister Kajsa Ollongren (Home Affairs) says the recovery should first "do justice to the wishes of families of killed crew members." In addition, she calls it a "meaningful gesture" looking forward to the celebration of 75 years of liberation in 2020.
Ollongren and her colleagues at Defence react with the program on a request from the Christian Union, CDA and VVD. They find that the national Government must make an effort for the salvaging of Allied aircraft wrecks with missing crew.
Right ow this is a task of the municipalities. Jacqui van der Graaf from the Christian Union calls the recovery of the missing planes a matter of honour.
According to experts, the salvaging of thirty to fifty wrecks with possible remains is promising.
