Britain's Prince Charles and Dutch Princess Beatrix will be present at the Airborne Commemoration in the Arnhem region on Saturday, September 21. They attend the 75th anniversary of the airborne landings on the Ginkel Heath in Ede.
Prince Charles will also visit the Airborne Museum in Oosterbeek.
In September 1944, an enormous amount of allied troops and equipment were dropped near Arnhem. They had to conquer the Rhine bridge at Arnhem as part of Operation Market Garden. But the Battle of Arnhem and the operation failed rescue and the war came to a standstill. Most of the Netherlands had to wait until till May 1945 before liberated.
At the fiftieth anniversary Prince Charles jumped from a plane himself at the Ginkel Heath in Ede. It is not to be expected that he will do so again this time, spokesmen said.
