Two-hundred WWII landmines found in pasture of The Netherlands

This Wednesday about two-hundred landmines have been found in a pasture in ‘s-Gravendeel (Zuid-Holland) The Netherlands. The Explosives Disposal Service (EOD) is on the ground.

The mines were found in the morning by the owner of the piece of arable land, which lies on the Boomdijk. According to a spokesperson of the police, the mines are from the Second World War.

No danger

Why are so many mines are found together, is not known. “Maybe it was a warehouse or a dumping ground. But that’s speculation, we do not know.”

There is no immediate danger, the EOD has occurred. The site is guarded in the night from Wednesday to Thursday. Thursday, the mines are detonated.
