September 19th, exactly 75 years after his Dakota crashed, a monument was unveiled for RAF pilot David Samuel Anthony Lord VC and his crew at Wolfheze heath, the Reijerkamp.
Dutchman Teo van Middelkoop took the initiative for the monument. Niece Lucinda Lord who was present said it was a fitting tribute to David Lord and together with gliderpilot Ron Johnson she unveiled the big stone. Ron might be the only one alive who did not only knew Lord, he actually witnessed Lords heroic act for which he won the Victorian Cross.
