Seven proud veterans will be present this year during the 73rd Airborne Walking Tour to welcome incoming hikers.
The gentlemen will be brought to Oosterbeek by the Taxi Charity for Military Veterans with London Cabs.
The taxis will be driven voluntary by British taxi drivers. Something they enjoy doing. The costs for this transport and the stay in The Netherlands come from donations.

This Airborne March in the context of the Battle of Arnhem 1944 and takes place every year on the first Saturday of September in Oosterbeek. The March is a tribute to the more than 1,700 British and Polish soldiers who died during the battle and were buried at the Airborne Cemetery in Oosterbeek. Hikers visit the Cemetary and pay their respect.
In 1947, the Police Sports Association "Renkum" organised the March for the first time, to honour those who fought in the surroundings of Oosterbeek for the liberation of our country in the September days of 1944. Around 2.000 hikers took part in the first March, making it a success right from the start.
Later this march was given the name “Airborne March” and the organisation was able to use the Pegasus emblem with the permission of Major-General R.E. Urquhart, CB, DSO, commander of the 1st Airborne Division, .
From the beginning, the profits of the Airborne Walking Tour have been destined to the soldiers who became crippled due to acts of war during the Battle of Arnhem, as well as for the relatives of the fallen, who are financially unable to attend the Airborne commemorations in September in this area.
